Updates, Ongoing Support & Volunteer Opportunities

Smiles for Abby recently distributed 40 Valentine's Day gifts to all patients on the seventh floor of the Penn State Cancer Institute. Gifts included activities and Valentine's Day themed goodies to brighten the patient's day!

Smiles for Abby recently distributed 15 additional care packages to Geisinger Outpatient Cancer Centers in mid-March.

Smiles for Abby will be donating 60 PICC line sleeves to Penn State Hershey Medical Center to support young adult cancer patients. PICC lines (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheters) are often used to deliver chemotherapy and other intravenous treatments, and are typically placed in the patient’s arm for extended periods—sometimes for several months. These specially designed sleeves help protect the line during daily activities like showering, offering both practical support and peace of mind. Many newly diagnosed patients aren't aware that these sleeves exist, so we hope this donation helps fill an important gap in care and comfort.

Leadership Harrisburg Area plans to host another blood drive in Abby's honor on Monday April 21, 2025 at Commonwealth Charter Academy. Abby was a 2022 graduate of Leadership Harrisburg Area, and all of us at Smiles for Abby are humbled that the program continues to honor her. Stay tuned for more information!

The American Red Cross in partnership with Smiles for Abby and the Hazleton Lions Club will be hosting a blood drive in Abby's memory on May 9, 2025 at Holy Rosary Parish in Hazleton. Stay tuned for more information!
