Smiles for Abby's care package program aims to provide young adult patients over the age of 20 with practical items to help during long hospital stays, as well as comfort items to lift their spirits. Packages are donated to patients at Penn State Hershey Medical Center as well as mailed to recipients who have requested one be sent to a young adult cancer patient.

Monthly collections for care package items and monetary donations will be held at Seven Sorrows of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish located at 280 N Race St, Middletown, PA on the last weekend of every other month (next dates: July 27 and 28). Collections will take place in the vestibule of the church after each Saturday and Sunday mass service.  Please check weekly mass bulletins for updates to the collection schedule.

 

Current desired donation items include:

  • Blankets and silk pillowcases
  • Grip socks
  • Ginger Chews
  • Journals (not puzzle books)
  • Blank Neutral-Colored Baseball Caps
  • Individual Packs of Tissues
  • Card games, and other handheld/ travelgames
  • Inspirational items & cards of encouragement
  • Starbucks, Dunkin’, Amazon gift cards
