Abby's Reading Room
A space to connect, reflect and find a little escape through reading.
Our book club was created to build community and connection. It offers a sense of normalcy and a shared escape through reading and conversation. We'll have monthly virtual meetings, about an hour long, with facilitated discussions.
It is open for anyone impacted by cancer, including patients, survivors, caregivers, family and friends.
We'd love to have you join us!

Cozy Up With Our Book of the Month
"My Friends" by Fredrik Backman
Join us for our book club discussion on Monday, May 18 at 7:00pm ET.
Entrusted with a famous painting, Louisa is drawn to three mysterious figures hidden within it. Her search for answers uncovers the story of a group of teens who shared one unforgettable summer of friendship, rebellion, and hope. As past and present intertwine, Louisa must decide what the painting—and its story—mean for her own life.

There are several easy ways to get a copy! We recommend starting with your local library to keep costs low. Many libraries offer digital options through apps like Libby, OverDrive, or Hoopla, where you can borrow eBooks or audiobooks right on your phone or tablet. You can also read eBooks using the Kindle app.
If you prefer a physical copy or want to see which nearby libraries have the book available, try searching on WorldCat and be sure your location is updated.
Prefer to own your copy? You can purchase the book or audiobook from your local bookstore or online through Amazon.
Our book club is member-driven! We invite everyone to submit 2–3 book recommendations they’d like the group to read. These suggestions are added to a shared list, and at each meeting, members vote to choose the next book.
If a book isn’t selected, it stays on our master list and can be voted on in future months.
Our group is open to a wide range of genres, including historical fiction, history, thrillers, true crime, romance, fantasy/adventure, and anything fast-paced with strong characters—so feel free to recommend what you’re excited about!
